About Chola

Chola Indian Restaurant is the newest star in the Austin/Round Rock restaurant scene. Situated conveniently in Round Rock on I-35 Exit 250, Chola is just a stone's throw away from Walmart. Chola strives to offer the best of Indian Regional food in stylish and comfortable surroundings at pocket friendly prices.

At Chola, we offer a delectable menu rife with South Indian and North Indian cuisine. Indian dining starts with various appetizers, such as potato turnovers called samosas, grilled meats called kebabs, or vegetable fritters called pakoras. Soups are optional. Mulligatawny soup is particularly popular. The name of this soup is an awful English mispronunciation of a Tamil word meaning 'Pepper and Water'('Millagu' is pepper and 'Thanni' is water)!Rice comes in the form of vegetarian pulaos and biryanis (with meat). These are delicacies by themselves. Bread comes as naan and as parathas, slightly fried, and rolled differently. The plain bread comprises of wheat and is called roti. In addition to poultry, seafood and lamb entrees, we also have a variety of exclusively vegetarian dishes.

Why the name Chola?

The Chola dynasty was a South Indian Tamil dynasty that ruled most of southern India until the 13th century. The Cholas have left behind a lasting legacy, with their patronage of Tamil literature and their zeal in building temples resulting in some of the great works of Tamil Architecture. The restaurant has been named after this legendary dynasty, and we strive to leave behind a lasting legacy in fine Indian cuisine as well!
